Spartans back on top as MSBL 28+ champions

2021 MSBL 28+ Champions - South Shore Spartans

When it comes to winning a championship in the MSBL 28+ Division of the Boston Men's Baseball League, the South Shore Spartans are currently batting a thousand.

After opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spartans returned in 2021 and picked up right where they left off — winning their fourth MSBL 28+ title in the team's four-year history, capped off by a 1-0 victory over the Cambridge Spinners in Game 4 of the 2021 MSBL 28+ Finals.

Overall, the four-time champions cruised through the postseason with a nearly unbeaten 7-1 record, knocking off the No. 8-seeded Senators, No. 5-seeded Cardinals, and No. 3-seeded Spinners, outscoring their opponents by a combined margin of 32-13.

As a franchise, the Spartans now hold an overall postseason record of 30-6, and have won twelve consecutive playoff series—the longest streak for any BMBL franchise.

Congratulations to the South Shore Spartans on winning their fourth MSBL 28+ title, and hats off to the runner-up Cambridge Spinners on reaching the Finals in their first season since moving up from the MABL 18+ Division.
