BMBL Opening Week 2022

After a long winter, BMBL Opening Week has finally arrived and the 2022 season is officially underway.

The 2022 season marks the BMBL's 35th year of existence, and its first year as the Boston Metro Baseball League.

The full regular-season schedule has been released across all four divisions, which includes a total of 41 teams vying for a championship title.

An update on each of the four divisions is below, as well as an introduction to the season video from League President Jeff Coveney.

18+ Division

A total of 10 teams make up the 18+ Division in 2022, broken down into one single division. Each team will play a 25-game regular season schedule.

Two new teams have joined the division in 2022 — welcome aboard to the Boston Lobos and Boston Hogs!

In other 18+ Division news, the South Shore Grays have changed their team name back to the South Shore Giants.

The next 18+ game is scheduled for tonight at 7:30 PM, as the Greater Boston Bandits (1-1) host the South Shore Giants (0-1) at Fallon Field in Roslindale.

28+ Boston Division

The 28+ Division is now called the 28+ Boston Division, and consists of 14 teams in 2022, separated into two divisions, 'Red Division' and 'Blue Division'. Each team will play a 22-game regular season schedule.

Three new teams have joined the 28+ Boston Division in 2022 — welcome aboard to the Boston Bison and Mill City Mustangs!

The third team to join the division is the 2-time 18+ champion Waltham Athletics, who moved up to the 28+ Boston Division after spending 20 seasons in the 18+ Division.

The next slate of 28+ games are scheduled for tonight beginning at 8:00 PM.

28+ MetroWest Division

A total of 7 teams make up the 28+ MetroWest Division in 2022. Each team will play an 18-game regular season schedule.

The Milford Braves chose not to return for the 2022 season.

The next MetroWest game is scheduled for Sunday, May 1 at 9:00 AM, as the Douglas Tigers (1-0) host the Metrowest Astros (0-1) at Soldier Field in Douglas.

38+ Masters Division

A total of 10 teams make up the Masters 38+ Division in 2022. Each team will play a 17-game regular season schedule.

The reigning Masters champions have changed their team name from the Bistro 781 Bulls to The Bulls.

The next slate of games in the Masters Division are scheduled for Monday night, May 2, beginning at 7:30 PM.
