End of Season Banquet

The annual End of Season Banquet began in 1998 as a way to commemorate the end of a season and recognize all of the team champions, individual award winners, and newest members of the Hall of Fame.

Over the years, the banquet has been held at some hot Boston locales such as Game On, Boston Beer Works, and the 406 Club at Fenway Park.

2024 Banquet

The 2024 League Banquet took place on Tuesday, October 29th, at Game On in Boston, where over two hundred players and guests enjoyed the festivities.

League President Jeff Coveney kicked off the awards ceremony with a few opening remarks on the 2024 season.

Next, he handed the microphone over to Brett Rudy, the Commissioner of the 18+ Division and the Vice President of Marketing and Baseball Operations, who once again served as the master of ceremonies. He started by introducing the award winners and champions of the 18+ Division:

18+ Award Winners: Thomas Lenane, Middleboro Mocka Rays (Co-MVP), DJ Goldberg, Norfolk County Mariners (Co-MVP), Jacob Laudati, Boston Phoenix (Cy Young), DJ Goldberg, Norfolk County Mariners (Rookie of the Year), Tyler Ferdinand, Middleboro Mocka Rays (Manager of the Year)

18+ Champions: Middleboro Mocka Rays

Next, Brett handed over the microphone to first-year commissioner of the 28+ Boston Division, Orazio Azzarello, who introduced the award winners and champions of the 28+ Boston Division:

28+ Boston Award Winners: Kyle Maglio, Cambridge Spinners (MVP), Brock Riley, Lowell Angels (Cy Young), Dave Lightbody, Boston Bombers (Manager of the Year), Mark Cibulski (Heart of the Game)

The MetroWest 28+ Commissioner Chris Currie next announced the individual award winners and champions of the MetroWest 28+ Division:

MetroWest 28+ Award Winners: Andrew Quinn, Northborough Cardinals (MVP), Andrew Quinn, Northborough Cardinals (Cy Young), John Margeson, Metrowest Yard Goats (Manager of the Year), Bryan Curran, Metrowest Orioles (Matt DiTullio Sportsman of the Year)

MetroWest 28+ Champions: Metrowest Orioles

Scott Isaacs, the Masters 38+ Commissioner, next announced the individual award winners and champions of the Masters 38+ Division:

Masters 38+ Award Winners: Joe Perna, The Bulls (MVP), Brian Tanguy, Milton Breakers (Cy Young), Johnny Hayes, The Bulls (Manager of the Year)

Masters 38+ Champions: Boston Cardinals

Last but not least, League President Jeff Coveney introduced the Hall of Fame Class of 2024:

2024 Hall of Fame Inductees: Mark Moise (Metro Red Sox), Jose Toledano (Boston Cardinals), Johnny Hayes (The Bulls), Chris Deane, (Metrowest Orioles).

2023 Banquet

The 2023 League Banquet took place on Monday, October 23rd, at Game On in Boston, where over two hundred players and guests enjoyed the festivities.

Next, he handed the microphone over to Brett Rudy, the Commissioner of the 18+ Division and the Vice President of Marketing and Baseball Operations, who once again served as the master of ceremonies. He started by introducing the Hall of Fame Class of 2023:

Brett Rudy took the mic back and announced the individual award winners and the champions of the 18+ Division:

2022 Banquet

The 2022 League Banquet took place on Wednesday, November 2nd, at Game On in Boston and saw a record-breaking turnout.

League President Jeff Coveney opened up the awards ceremony with a touching moment of silence for the son of John Robles (South Shore Giants), who sadly passed away just several days before the event.

League administrator Brett Rudy once again emceed the awards ceremony and began with recognizing the award winners and champions in each of the four divisions:

18+ Award Winners: Anthony Shea, Merrimack Valley Marlins (MVP), Luke Hils, Boston Havoc (Cy Young), Kyle Shedden, Merrimack Valley Marlins (Rookie of the Year), Omar Ortiz, Boston Havoc (Manager of the Year)

Next to be recognized were the newest members of the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame (NSPBA). Mike Powers (Manager, Somerville Alibrandis), an official NSPBA voter for the state of Massachusetts, presented a plaque to the 2022 inductees.

NSPBA Hall of Fame Inductees: Jeff Coveney (Waltham Cutters), John O'Brien (Milton Breakers), Franz Strassman (Spartans, Bulls), and Doug Flutie (formerly Natick Knights)

Last but not least, the two newest members of the BMBL Hall of Fame were recognized and awarded with a plaque.

2021 Banquet

The 2021 End of Season Banquet was back to an in-person gathering, held at Game On in Boston on Wednesday night, October 27th. Roughly 200 players and guests were in attendance enjoying the food and festivities.

League administrator Brett Rudy emceed the awards ceremony, which began with a few opening words from League President Jeff Coveney welcoming everyone to the event. Rudy then recognized the team champions from each of the four divisions, who all posed for a picture with the championship trophy.

BMBL Champions: Boston Havoc (MABL 18+), South Shore Spartans (MSBL 28+), Metrowest Royals (MSBL MetroWest 28+), Bistro 781 Bulls (MSBL Masters 38+)

Next to be recognized were the individual award winners across each of the four divisions. All recipients received a plaque for their accomplishments on the field during the 2021 season. In a very touching moment, the father and brother of Matt DiTullio accepted the "Sportsmanship of the Year" award in Matt's honor.

The five newest members of the BMBL Hall of Fame were next to be recognized and awarded with a plaque: Jeff Coveney, Eric Bennett, Darwin Hernandez, Dave Lightbody, and Dan Godfrey.

Last but not least, Sam Steed was presented with a plaque for his induction into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame.

2020 End of Season Banquet

For the first time in league history, the BMBL held a virtual banquet due to the ongoing pandemic. The first-of-its-kind event was streamed live to the public on the BMBL Facebook page.

Celebrity guests including Tom Caron (NESN), Heidi Watney (MLB Network), Tim Wakefield (Red Sox Hall of Famer), Jonathan Papelbon (former Red Sox closer) and Domingo Ayala (YouTube Star) announced the 2020 award winners in the MABL 18+, MSBL 28+, MSBL MetroWest 28+, and Masters 38+ divisions.
