Newton Red Sox win MSBL AL championship

2013 MSBL Champions - Newton Red Sox

The Newton Red Sox (22-2) have won the 2013 MSBL American League championship, defeating the Brockton A's (18-6) two games to none in the best-of-three Championship Series.

This is the franchise's sixth overall title and fifth title since returning to the American League Division in 2005.

Trailing 4-2 in the sixth inning of Game 2, a very good-hitting Brockton A's team battled back to tie the game at 4-4. Newton responded in the top of the seventh with two runs of their own, before turning the ball over to their ace Yulkin German, who earned his fifth win of the postseason with a scoreless ninth, securing the 6-4 victory and the franchise's sixth overall title.

Congratulations to the Newton Red Sox on winning the 2013 MSBL 28+ AL championship, and hats off to the Brockton A's on a fine season and the franchise's third trip to the 28+ Division Finals.
