2014 BMBL championship series to begin this weekend

The 2014 BMBL postseason Finals matchups are now set in the MABL, MSBL AL, and MSBL NL Divisions.

MABL 18+ Division (Athletics vs. White Sox)

In the MABL 18+ Division, the Athletics (15-9) will look to bring home their first MABL title as they take on the defending champion White Sox (16-7-1).

The White Sox advanced to the Finals for the third straight season after a 2-0 series sweep (8-0, 10-7) of the Cutters in the quarter-finals and a 3-0 series sweep (5-2, 2-1, 4-2) in the semifinals over the Dodgers, who upset the top-seeded Spinners (17-7) to earn their spot in the semis.

The Athletics reached the Finals with a 2-0 series sweep (8-7, 2-1) of the Red Sox in the quarter-finals, followed by a hard-fought 3-2 series win over the Grays in the semifinal round.

The first game of the MABL Championship Series is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 9:30 AM at Ryan Field in Charlestown.

MSBL AL Division (Winchester Chiefs vs. Newton Red Sox)

In the MSBL American League Division, the Winchester Chiefs (12-10-1) will face off against the 6-time defending champion Newton Red Sox (18-6).

The Chiefs punched their ticket to the MSBL AL Finals with a 2-0 series sweep of the Boston Cardinals (13-10) in the first round and a 2-1 series win over the Milton Breakers (15-7-1) in the semis.

As the top overall seed, the Red Sox received a bye in the first round and swept the Middlesex Brewers (12-12) in the semis.

The MSBL AL Championship Series is set to begin on Sunday, September 21, 9:00 AM at Newton South High School.

MSBL NL Division (Braintree Braves vs. JM Force of Hyde Park)

In the MSBL National League Division, the Braintree Braves (16-7-1) will meet the defending champion JM Force of Hyde Park (19-5).

The Braves, winners of ten in a row to close out the regular season, earned the 2-seed and a first-round bye.

They would have to wait 11 days before their semifinal round meeting with the Boston Bombers (14-10), who they went on to defeat in three games (5-0, 6-5, 3-0) behind some great pitching and defense.

JM Force also received a first-round bye after finishing the regular season with the best overall record for the second year in a row.

After a whopping 21-day break, JM Force defeated the Somerville Senators (13-10-1) two games to none (4-3, 16-3) in the semifinals, with the first game of that series lasting 11 grueling innings.

The MSBL NL Championship Series will begin on Sunday, September 21, 1:00 PM at Ryan Field in Charlestown.

Best of luck to all teams!
