Somerville Senators celebrate 25th anniversary

Somerville Senators celebrate 25 years as a franchise

Entering the 2015 season, the MSBL Somerville Senators marked their 25th anniversary as a franchise. The man who started it all, back in 1990, was Alex Masel, who has been playing at Trum Park in Somerville, MA ever since.

Masel is still an integral part of the team, currently acting as the General Manager alongside Peter Beck, who has helped him tremendously along the way.

There are so many players to name, but just a few we would like to recognize: Steve Donovan, Bill Smeglin, Russ Ward, Paul Rousseau, Mark Moise, Ed English, Pete (Pencil) Grassia, Bobby Iandoli, Steve Capozzi, Bob Delponte, Kelley McCormick, Steve Tocco, Chuck Sjostedt, and the rest of the players who have put on a Senators' uniform. You're all part of a team but you've also become great friends throughout the years.

The team has been coached by Orazio Azzarello since 2011 and he continues that tradition. In honor of their 25-year anniversary, the Senators have placed embroidery designs on their hats and undershirts for the 2015 season.

Congratulations to the Somerville Senators on 25 years!
