Framingham Orioles win MetroWest championship

2017 MetroWest Champions - Framingham Orioles

In a hard-fought series, the Framingham Orioles took home the 2017 MSBL MetroWest Championship, defeating the Hudson Mets 2-0 in the best-of-three Championship Series.

In Game 1, the Orioles jumped out to a swift 6-2 lead after two innings, but the Mets chipped away over the next several innings and carried an 8-7 lead into the final frame.

That lead was quickly erased, however, after the Orioles plated two runs in the top of the 7th to go ahead, 9-8.

With the Mets now down to their last three outs, Zak Platts took over on the hill and closed the door on another potential comeback, picking up the save. Chris Dion earned the win, as the Orioles took Game 1 by a final score of 9-8.

In Game 2, the Orioles again jumped out to an early lead, a lead they wouldn't relinquish, thanks to a dominant pitching performance. The Orioles pitchers did not allow a single Mets batter to cross home plate in the game, while the offense struck for ten runs en route to a 10-0 Game 2 shutout win and the 2017 MetroWest championship.

Congratulations to the Framingham Orioles on winning the 2017 MetroWest title, and hats off to the Hudson Mets on a great season and their 3rd straight Finals appearance.
